ICA Restructuring Report adopted

Highlights and Decisions

Nearly 300 delegates met in Rome to discuss and decide on a series of restructuring proposals, changes to the ICA Rules, Policies, Procedures, and Standing Orders and to vote on a Board vacancy.

Members adopted all recommendations included in the ICA Restructuring Report as proposed and unanimously approved amended ICA Rules and new Bye-Laws which include a new subscription and voting system. Members further unanimously elected Mr. Won-Byung Choi of the National Agricultural Co-operative Federation of Korea (NACF) to the ICA Board.

The Assembly further received reports the following items:

responses of solidarity for co-operatives impacted by the earthquake in China and cyclone in Myanamar (pdf)
update on the Cooperatives Europe petition "Hands off our co-operatives" in response to the European Commission review of taxation policies which challenges the Co-operative Identity
announcement of the DotCoop Global Awards for Co-operative Excellence to be awarded at the next ICA General Assembly in 2009 in Glasgow (Scotland)
