"Peace-building through Co-operatives"
This year the theme of the International Day highlights how co-operative enterprises have and continue to foster peace among peoples,
communities and nations by virtue of their values and principles and the implementation of these. Co-operatives not only play a role
in helping to address problems which lead to conflict, but also offer a real alternative in helping to resolve conflict while also significantly
contribute to rebuilding communities after wars or civil strife by creating conditions to lessen the resurgence of conflict. See also background information provided by the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC)
